Enjoy the Platinum Jubilee Weekend in Your Very Own Caravan
This year, Her Majesty the Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service. A special extended bank holiday weekend will provide an opportunity for communities and people throughout the United Kingdom to come together to celebrate the historic milestone. It also gives you the opportunity to get away for a few days with your family on holiday. This then is the perfect time to get yourself a static caravan so you can enjoy a right royal knees up in your own little home away from home.
The four days of celebrations from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June will include public events and community activities, as well as national moments of reflection on The Queen’s 70 years of service. There are lots of events planned across the UK and the Commonwealth, with the main ones taking place over the Jubilee long weekend:
- Thursday 2 June will feature Trooping the Colour, the Queen’s official birthday parade, which ends with an RAF fly-past watched by members of the Royal Family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace in London. It will also be the day when 1,500 beacons will be lit across the UK and in the capital cities of Commonwealth countries.
- Friday 3 June, will see a Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral in London.
- On Saturday, members of the Royal Family are expected to attend the Derby horse racing event at Epsom and the Platinum Party at the Palace, a live concert in front of Buckingham Palace featuring acts including Diana Ross, Queen, Duran Duran, Sir Rod Stewart and Eurovision singer Sam Ryder.
- The final day of celebrations is on Sunday, with the Platinum Jubilee Pageant. A performance finishing in front of Buckingham Palace will tell the story of the Queen’s reign and will feature military personnel, dancers and puppets of corgis, and a performance by Ed Sheeran.
Pubs, bars and nightclubs will also be able to stay open until 01:00 BST. Street parties are planned across the weekend as part of The Big Jubilee Lunch. Hosting a street party for neighbours and residents does not need a licence so get yourself out there in the streets.
Naturally, many people across the UK are using this as an excuse to also book holidays and, as always. As this bank holiday is in honour of the Queen, it doesn’t seem right to jet off to an exotic country or island. Instead, you can get your holiday fix in your very own static caravan and express your patriotism right here in the UK.
What better way to celebrate the Queen’s jubilee and the whole English tradition of street parties and bunting than to partake in another typical English tradition of caravanning.
