How to Update Your Caravan with a Few Simple Style Tips

Club Jupiter

The founders of a stylish caravan revival project have applied their design skills to a three-bedroom 2010 BK-Bluebird static caravan they brought at Birchington Vale Holiday Park in Kent. This static caravan model is part of the Willerby family. Club Jupiter was launched last year by travel writer Anna Hart, interior stylist Emma Jane Palin and interior designer Whinnie Williams. Their aim is to bring new life to the UK travel and caravan industry.

Colours, textures, cushions, curtains, layering and accessories were all key elements of their transformation of their static caravan, and they hope their work will inspire other static caravan to personalise their own models.

The girls at Club Jupiter were quoted as saying: “We made really simple changes that made a big impact. With a little bit of imagination, trialling and testing, anyone can do this. Static caravans are an amazing canvas and it doesn’t have to be expensive or difficult to make yours individual to you. Simple restyling and inexpensive updates are all it takes to transform a static caravan interior.”

Anna, Emma Jane, and Whinnie visited Willerby HQ near Hull to put their own styling stamp on the company’s Brookwood static caravan model after the firm spotted the work they had done on their own Willerby static caravan.

How to Update Your Caravan

Chloe Lidster, Head of Marketing at Willerby, said: “It was great to welcome the Club Jupiter team to our headquarters in Hull and show them how a Willerby is made, before watching them transform our Brookwood model with their unique ideas and styles. The changes they made are relatively small, but they’re incredibly effective and make the space look completely different. They really show how much owners can do to make their Willerby reflect their personality and style preferences.”

Here are their tips and tricks of how they gave their static caravan a new lease of life:

  1. Add Cushions

Adding cushions in various different shapes, textures, colours and sizes will help to create an intimate and cosy vibe and will instantly lift your space. Emma advises changing things up as the seasons come and go; silks and linens are perfect for summer while velvet and knitted styles will retain heat in the winter. Purchase cheaper cushion covers but splurge on the inserts with styles that will stay plump and allow you to sink in for a restful night in front of the TV.

  1. Bring in Greenery

Plants add life to a space, even if they’re faux, so don’t be afraid to mix and match the real deal with a little bit of plastic. Choose varieties that don’t require much water and like a bit of humidity to ensure they stay alive – snake plants and ivy are perfect low maintenance options. You can also have fun with plant pots, opting for hanging styles made of rattan, or beautiful ceramics that will make your living situation a little more luxurious and will bring your space to life. Don’t be afraid to mix and match the real deal with a little bit of plastic!

  1. Make it Your Own

Art and decor add your personality to a space, so don’t be afraid to explore your true self here. At Club Jupiter, we paid local artist, Daisy Emerson, to design our bespoke Palm Springs style and we couldn’t be more obsessed. If you don’t want to drill holes in your walls, Command Strips are a great alternative. Another design to take inspiration from is the cork wall in our smaller bathroom. We used self-adhesive cork tiles so that our guests could leave us notes and pictures. It’s one of our favourite parts of the caravan and shows off all of the good parts of Club Jupiter!

  1. Change up Your Light Fixtures

Light fixtures in new build caravans can be quite basic and neutral, not necessarily a style you would choose for yourself, so why not change them up? A simple shade change can make all the difference, or you can hire an electrician relatively cheaply if you wanted something more dramatic. A light above the table or kitchen island will make it feel more intimate and expensive

  1. Window Dressings

Our final tip is to really focus on the window dressings in your space. A simple switchover to curtains or a textured blind can really make your space feel wildly different. At Club Jupiter, we opted for soft voiles and textured rattan blinds in our living space to really add to that airy and bright feel. In contrast, the bedrooms were a chance to go wild with curtain walls, fringed numbers and velvet blinds!
